Altilium is an impressive 57' narrowboat, crafted in 1998 by SW Durham Steel Craft Ltd. She has undergone a complete bare shell refit, with every component brand new and meticulously selected.
Equipped with a powerful Lightning Craft 20 kW electric motor and five 425W domestic solar panels generating a remarkable 2200W, Altilium is designed for efficiency. The system includes a Victron Multiplus 2 5000W inverter charger and three lithium batteries that total 600Ah, providing 44 kWh of power, alongside a 560Ah 12V domestic battery that delivers 7168Wh.
The boat features high-quality Caldwell double-glazed windows, ensuring comfort in all weather conditions. For heating, a Refleks diesel stove powers three radiators located in the bathroom, bedroom, and engine bay.
Every detail has been thoughtfully designed with bespoke woodwork, primarily in American oak. The living area boasts a double sofa bed, two cabinets, and a fold-out table with stools. The end bedroom offers a fixed double bed with ample storage underneath and two spacious wardrobes.
The bathroom includes an 800x900 shower cubicle, a Simploo composting toilet, and a stylish cabinet with a bowl sink. In the galley, you'll find a well-appointed space with an oak finish, featuring a full-size fridge freezer, washing machine, induction hob, air fryer, and microwave.
For hot water, Altilium utilizes a calorifier powered by the Refleks stove, solar dump, and shoreline connection. She also has a generous 750-gallon water tank.
The boat has just undergone a fresh repaint by Gibson and Kentwright, including a high-quality two-pack finish. The hull was surveyed two years ago and has only recently been back in the water. A new Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) certificate has also been obtained, and a custom canopy from Glovers Covers has recently been installed.
We initially planned to use her as a liveaboard, but our plans have changed. There’s so much to appreciate about Altilium, and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!
